Divine fire upon water

If you pour ghee onto a burning fire, it will blaze up even more. This is the external, worldly truth. You cannot extinguish a fire by pouring ghee on it; fire can only be extinguished by pouring water. But shall we look at the wisdom (Gnana) that Vallal Peruman speaks of?

Our experiential wisdom is the exact opposite of how things work in the world. The divine light within our eye exists within water! God shines as the fire above that water. It is within the vital fluid (prana neer) of the black pupil that the divine light of the eye is revealed. This is the secret of wisdom spoken of by the great Siddhas! Ordinary fire is extinguished by water. But the internal light of our eye is a tiny speck of the vast, grand light of the Almighty Supreme Being! This light of the eye is a cool light (thannoli) that cannot be destroyed by anything or anyone. It is verily God Himself!

As one realizes the light of our eye through initiation by a Guru (Guru Deeksha) and performs intense meditation (tavam), the light will multiply. It will flow like a river of great fire! Like a white snake (vencharai pambu), it will crawl inside and reach the art of fire (agni kalai). The lights of the two eyes, representing the Sun and Moon, will join with this fire and become an even greater fire. This rising fire will ascend to the peak. At the very top center of our head, known as the Sahasradala (thousand-petaled lotus), as the light arrives and gathers, the ambrosia (amudham) that is collected there—that is the ghee—will begin to drop, drop by drop, into our throat! Through whichever channel (nadi) the light ascended, through that same channel, when the ghee-ambrosia flows down, the scorching heat of the fire will be quenched. It becomes a fire imbued with coolness! It is no longer a burning fire.

Just as we pour rice into water inside a pot, kindle a fire beneath, and cook, we must combine and awaken the three fires of the Sun, Moon, and Agni to melt and consume the frozen ambrosia. By doing so, the scorching fire becomes a blissful fire. This is the experience of wisdom! This is what it means to extinguish the burning fire with ghee. Here, “ghee” (ambrosia) means to cook or ripen, not to extinguish. Vallal Peruman has made this humble self write so that everyone may know such secrets of wisdom. Is he not the Gracious Bounteous One (Arul Vallal)? His intent is that everyone should receive grace, realize the truth, and attain the Great Deathless Life!

Realize the divine light of our eyes, which are his cool lotus feet, and perform meditation! You can behold the Golden Feet—the Golden Jyothi (Light).
