Who is God? The Supreme Being – The Supreme Light – The Vast Grace-Light. He is omnipresent, Almighty, and resides in every single atom without exception. He is within me; He is within you!
Is it possible that the Lord, who shines as the Light within everything, is absent from our own bodies? Just as He exists everywhere, that Great Light of God shines as a “Small Light” within the human body, as our very life-force (Soul). This is the Truth! This is Reality!
First, one must know this, believe this, and realize this! Only such a person will be protected from the ocean of worldly suffering (Samsara). Who else? Only God Himself will save you. Who is God? He is the Guru!
“Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwara, Guru Sakshat Parabrahma.”
Do you need more explanation than this? The Guru is the manifest Supreme Brahman! The Guru is God! Only one who has attained God can show God to us. Can someone who has simply wandered off and vanished save you? Won’t you think for a moment?
Who are you? You are a tiny spark of that Great Light! That is your Soul. Where is your Soul located? Shouldn’t you know that?
Our physical body was given to us by our parents, who are our visible gods. Wisdom (Gnanam) is knowing that our life was given by the invisible God of Light.
In every mother’s womb, the first thing created is the Head. Even before three months, the life begins to grow by the grace of God. God provides for the frog within a stone and the embryo within the womb. Exactly 270 days—calculated as 10 months based on the 27 lunar constellations (27 days x 10)—is the count used by physicians and sages. Once complete, the birth sac breaks and the child is born.
Through which path did the Soul enter, and where does it reside in the body? It enters through the Uchi (the crown of the head) and resides above the palate, in the center of our head (the mid-brain/soul center). You can observe how the crown (Uchi) of a newborn baby is extremely soft.
Our body, when measured by our own hand, is exactly eight spans (eight hand-lengths). Every person’s body is eight spans long according to their own hand!
Today’s world of science provides various measurements, stating that each person’s height is different—such as 150 cm or 160 cm. It differentiates between people based on these varying heights. However, our Sages (Meignanis) declared that we are all Souls (Atmas); we are all children of God! To ensure that humans do not harbor feelings of inequality or difference in any way, they established the truth: “Everyone’s height is eight spans.” This is an undeniable truth! If you measure yourself with your own hand, you will find you are exactly eight spans. How true is the old proverb: “For an eight-span body, the Head is the most important part” (En-chaan udambukku thirase pradhaanam)!
In our body, the Head (Thirasu) is the most important part. It is there, in the very center, that God has safely placed our Life-force (Soul). Why do they say the head is so important? It is because we live through our five senses (Panchendriyas)! We live only when the body, mouth, eyes, nose, and ears are functioning.
Below the neck are the organs of action (Karmendriyas), but above the neck—the head—is the center of the five organs of perception (Gnanendriyas): the body (touch), mouth (taste), eyes (sight), nose (smell), and ears (hearing).
The ancient poetess Avvaiyar said:
“To be born as a human is rare; rarer still is to be born without physical or sensory defects. Even rarer is to pursue wisdom and education; and rarest of all is to perform charity and penance.”
It is not enough to simply be born without defects! One must learn the “Science of Wisdom” and the “Science of Deathlessness.” It is best to have your “Inner Eye” opened by a qualified Master (Acharya), as Vallalar suggests. A person who has acknowledged their Mother and Father must also receive a Guru; otherwise, death is the only certainty. Only one who receives a Guru will receive initiation (Deeksha), perform penance, attain wisdom, and see God!
Therefore, since the head houses all five senses, it is the most vital part. Within the center of that vital head lies our Soul.
O Human, you are a living being! Where is your Life-force? It is in the center of the head! The Sage’s secret word says:
“The lamp placed below the crown and above the palate is the ‘Pure Letter’ (Suddha Ezhuthu), O young maiden.”
This is the secret of true wisdom. God is the Lamp placed below the crown, in the center of our head. A lamp means fire, doesn’t it? That is the “Pure Letter”—the Ever-burning Lamp. Does the Soul ever die? No. Thus, it is proven that our Soul exists there as a flame, a subtle spark. The words of the Siddhars are the ultimate proof of this.
We can further prove that our Soul is Light in another way. Can we not understand the nature of the Soul by observing the difference between a corpse (a body from which life has departed) and ourselves? A corpse lies still like a log of wood; it has no feelings or sensations. We, who have life, act, move, and possess consciousness. Therefore, if there is life, there is sensation!
Furthermore, if you touch a corpse, the body is cold to the touch. But when we touch our own bodies, they feel slightly warm, don’t they? This is the very nature of the Soul! In a body where life has left, there is no heat. If there is life, there is heat! If there is heat, does it not mean there is fire and light within? Thus, the nature of the soul is Light!
Have you ever been scolded by someone asking, “Do you have even a little bit of ‘heat’ or ‘shame’ (feeling) left in you?” If you didn’t have that, it would mean you are a corpse—a lifeless log of wood! If there is heat, if there is the Light of the Soul, there will be feeling and sensation; you will function. This is the ultimate proof! The Soul is Light! Because it exists, sensation exists.
We have life! It exists as Light within the center of our head. This is the Secret of Wisdom (Gnana Rahasyam)! How do we see what is inside? What is the way to reach it? Should we not wish to know? Only if we know can we achieve it!
The five senses are located in our head! Our life exists because they function. For the five senses to operate, they require power and energy. It is by the power of the Soul (Uyir) that these five senses function. For this energy to be distributed equally and steadily to all five senses, the Soul must necessarily reside in the center of them, right? This is why the Creator placed the Soul in the inner center of the head! From this, it is clear that our Soul shines as a Light within the middle of our head.
How do we know this? We must be able to see what is inside, right? Only if we see it can we know the way to proceed. Is the Light-Soul that is inside the head visible anywhere on the outside of the head? Among the five senses in the head, the Light is visible in the Eyes, is it not? Because there is light in the eyes, we have the power of sight and the ability to see!
A person without light in their eyes is blind. If you look at what that light in the eye is, you will realize it is the very Light of the Soul (Jiva Jyoti) that shines in the center of our head! Thus, the Soul is within—but it is seen in the eyes. If the light inside is visible outside in the eyes, there must be a path connecting the seat of the Soul to the eyes! This is the Truth! The fact that there is a connection between the Soul and the Eyes is a Great Truth and a Divine Secret. It is Reality; understand this!
This is a Secret of Wisdom (Gnana Rahasyam) that no one in this world has spoken of until now! By the grace of the Goddess Vaalai, and through the blessings of Saint Vallalar and the Siddhars, I am revealing all these coded terms and secrets. The whole world must attain Wisdom! It is out of a deep desire to establish a path of Universal Harmony (Samarasa Sanmargam)—free from the divides of caste, religion, race, language, or nation—that I share this. Read and understand!
Realize this! Tell everyone: This is Wisdom! This is the Path of Wisdom! By following this path and practicing soul-discipline (Atma Sadhana), one can attain Wisdom. You can know yourself; you can reach the One who created you!
In our head, among the five senses, the Light is manifest only in the Eyes. But the Soul, which is that very Light, resides in the center of the head! If the inner Light is visible through the eyes, there must be a path, right? One must travel back through that very path to go within. Go!
How to go? The brain, which is called the “Truth,” is inside the skull. The mouth is open, but no light is seen there. The nose is open, but no light is seen there. The ears are open, but no light is seen there either. The eyes, however, are covered by eyelids—yet it is only there that the Light is seen! What a wonder this is!
How is this possible? Do you know how our eyes are structured? From the place where the Soul-Light resides in the center of the head, tube-like nerves come and connect to the two eyes. They are in the shape of the English letter “V”. Branching out, these two nerves connect to the two eyes. The inner Light manifests in both eyes through these two nerve-channels (Nadis). Do you understand? The Soul is one! The function of the two eyes is to unite as one and see as one. That “One” is the Soul!
How do we perform penance (Tavam)? It is by taking the Light manifest in the two eyes and drawing it inward to join the “Station of the Soul” (Atma Sthanam). Is it possible? It is certainly possible! It is possible for everyone.
How? The Vedas, Puranas, Epics, Bible, Quran, and all the Siddhas, Sages, and Vallalar—everyone speaks only of this one Path of Wisdom, the Path of the Eye, and the Light of the Eye! They firmly declare that if you let go of worldly attachments, fix your mind on the Light of the pupil, and if your “Eye divine Light” (consciousness) is kindled by the initiation (Deeksha) of a Guru, you can surely attain the Goal through penance!
Is a Guru necessary? Must one definitely receive the thiruvadi initiation from a gnana Guru?
Is it necessary? Only through him can the feeling(divine sensation) in your eyes be bestowed as an initiation (Diksha). Is it possible? Only a Siddha or a Gnani (enlightened soul) who has attained wisdom can grant you this initiation of wisdom.
Such a person is the “Gnana Guru.” Not everyone is a Guru, right? Not everyone can give this initiation. Seek out and choose not just any Guru, but a true Gnana Guru. Receive the spiritual teachings and initiation, remain in a state of conscious awareness, and perform your spiritual practice (Sadhana). By doing so, you can attain the Great Life Without Death (Immortality).
Vallalar Peruman is the Light of Mercy who redeems the people of the world!
Before he disappeared(enlightened with physical body) behind the closed doors of his room at Siddhividagam, he declared: “We are currently here in this form; hereafter, we shall merge within the hearts of everyone.” What is the meaning of this?
When someone approaches a Gnana Sarguru (True Teacher of Wisdom) to receive initiation (Diksha), Vallalar enters within them through the Guru’s eyes via that initiation. From that very moment, the one who receives the initiation becomes a child of Vallalar. That moment marks the rebirth of the initiate! He becomes a Dvijan—a “twice-born” soul.
From that instant, Vallalar remains with that disciple as a constant companion and protector. He shows the path to wisdom, destroys their karmas (past actions), and blesses them to become a Gnani (Enlightened Being). For Vallalar Peruman to enter within you, you must surrender to a living Gnana Sarguru.
Without the Guru’s Grace, one cannot attain the Divine Grace! The word of the Guru is scripture (Veda). Seeing the Guru, speaking of the Guru’s greatness, meditating on the Guru, serving the Guru, and realizing that “The Guru is the Ultimate Goal” is the easiest path to attaining Wisdom (Gnana).
Through the initiation (Diksha) from a Gnana Sarguru, you receive “divinefeeling” in the eyes. As you meditate by constantly remembering and feeling this, your heart will melt and tears will flow from your eyes like a stream. As the feeling in the pupil increases and awareness peaks, the light within the eye grows stronger.
Where will this eye-light go? It can only go inward. Is there not a passage like a needle-hole inside? Through that passage—the path of the optic nerve—the light travels and reaches our Jivasthana (the seat of the soul/life force) in the center of the head.
The light from both eyes travels inward and merges at that single point, our Jivasthana.
- The Right Eye is Surya Shakti (Sun energy).
- The Left Eye is Chandra Shakti (Moon energy).
- The Jivasthana inside is Agni Shakti (Fire energy).
When these three join together, a great fire is ignited! A mighty power is unleashed! That is the abode of the Lord; that is our Atma Sthana (Seat of the Soul). Only then can we realize our true self—the Light—and our subtle body (Sukshma Sharira). We can then behold the “Vaalai” (the youthful goddess/shakti energy). This is the dawn of Wisdom (Gnana).
How does the light enter? We perform penance (Tavam) by receiving feeling in our eyes through the Guru. As we meditate with intense awareness, the heat of the eyes increases and the light expands. How does the path open? To understand this, you must first understand the structure of the eye.
Our eye consists of the white area, the iris, and the pupil. At the center of the pupil, there is an opening the size of a needle-tip. A thin membrane covers this tiny opening. Vallalar Peruman has explained this beautifully. He spoke of the “Mirror House” and the lighting of the lamp to help us realize this state of meditation. He told us to “search for that Flame” within.
In the olden days, about 60 years ago, before electricity, there were street lamps and hand-held glass lamps (chimney lamps) in every home. Our “Eye-Lamp” is exactly like that. The Bible says this beautifully: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy (filled with light), your whole body will be full of light.” Why did Lord Jesus say this? He said, “God is Light! If you walk in the Light, you can see God.” This means that to see the Supreme God, who is Light, you must first make your entire body light through the light in your eyes. What supreme wisdom the Bible conveys in just two verses!
What else can any religion or any sage say other than this? To know this is true Knowledge; to realize this is Devotion; to feel this is Wisdom (Gnana). Such a person is a Sanmargi (follower of the true path). Can one speak differently about the one God? He who differentiates is a fool. He who sees divisions of caste, religion, race, language, or nation is an ignorant person.
Vallalar demonstrates the manifestation of light in the eye through the “Glass-Chimney Lamp” (Kannaadi Koondu Vilakku). How does a chimney lamp appear? The flame is inside, protected by a glass casing. To light that lamp or to touch the flame, one must open the glass door and reach inside. Similarly, there is a Soul-Light (Jiva-Jyoti) at the point where the inner paths of our two eyes meet.
Our eye is like that glass. In the center of the pupil, there is a hole the size of a needle-tip. That hole is covered by a thin, glass-like membrane. Just as the glass protects the lamp’s flame, this membrane stands before our inner light.
Because of that glass-like membrane, the inner light is visible through the eye. One whose membrane is thick like an emerald (opaque) is a “blind man” in the spiritual sense. As we perform penance (Tavam), the thin membrane melts and dissolves due to the heat generated! The doorway opens! The light rushes inward! We reach the seat of the Soul (Atma Sthana). This is the state of Penance; this is the state of Wisdom.
The seven curtains that Vallalar established at the Sathya Gnana Sabhai (Hall of True Wisdom) are meant to help us realize this through experience. O followers of Sanmarga, please understand! Wisdom will not come simply by lighting a lamp outside, reciting the Thiruvarutpa, and offering food (Annadhanam). First, realize that your own two eyes are the path to seeing and feeling the Supreme Lord—the Arutperunjothi (Great Effulgence of Grace)—as a golden flame within you.
Perform the Inward Journey (Agavazhipadu)! Vallalar, who saw no differences between people in the world, did categorize people into two groups. Do you know how? He called them “Inward Inhabitants” (Agathinar) and “Outward Inhabitants” (Purathinar).
Whoever beholds the golden light of their own soul within their head, just as the golden flame is seen in the Sathya Gnana Sabhai, is an Inward Inhabitant. Those who are immersed only in worldly affairs and spend their time merely eating, drinking, and focusing on external rituals are Outward Inhabitants.
Vallalar built the Sathya Gnana Sabhai to teach us how to perform penance. Look at the golden flame there! Did he not sing: “I have seen the Sathya Gnana Sabhai within me, and I have attained the state of Sanmarga”? Do you not understand?
If you desire Wisdom (Gnana), contemplate why Vallalar established the Sathya Gnana Sabhai. Think about why he asked us to witness the Vision of Light (Jyoti Darshan). If you think that merely looking at an external flame, offering food, or singing the Arutpa makes you a “Sanmargi,” you are mistaken!
You saw the golden flame in the Sathya Gnana Sabhai; just as Vallalar saw it within himself, you too must see it within your own head through the path of your eyes, passing through the seven curtains. Look! Look closely! Only when you are in that constant effort of internal vision are you a true Sanmargi—a Suddha Sanmargi (a Pure Seeker of Truth).
Do what Vallalar commanded! Only then will you receive his Grace. There are thousands of service organizations and ashrams in this world to perform social service; let them do that. Help them if you can. But if you claim to follow Vallalar’s path, you must strive to see that Arutperunjothi (Great Effulgence of Grace) within yourself, just as it is shown in the Hall of Wisdom.
Vallalar’s core principle and ultimate aim was Maranilla Peruvalvu (The Great Deathless Life). To achieve this, you must understand the secrets of Wisdom he shared and perform Gnana Tavam (Wisdom Penance). If you call yourself a Sanmargi, this is what you should explain to the world! Do not blabber like religious fanatics who foolishly claim their religion is the highest. Do not say “Sanmarga is the highest” in that same ignorant way.
What is Sanmarga? First, you who call yourself a Sanmargi must understand: “Sanmarga is the union of all!” It is the realization that people of all religions, all nations, all castes, and all divisions belong to the one Almighty God. There is only one God for the whole world. We must make it known—and we must feel it—that all the people of this world are our brothers and sisters. That is Sanmarga.
This concluding portion of the text emphasizes the behavioral and ethical transformation required to be a true follower of the path, moving beyond mere rituals to a state of universal love and internal discipline.
“Live as one with the world! Grow with it!” Why did the sages say this?
“To see all as one is the true Vision.” He who lives this way is a true Sanmargi. One who shows hatred or harbors ego is not a Sanmargi. Wearing a sacred mark (Vibhuti/Tripundra) or a rosary of beads is not what defines Sanmarga. Why then do they give these as Prasadam at the Dharmashala in Vadalur? It is a symbolic reminder.
Walk the path of Wisdom shown by Vallalar Peruman. Embrace people of all religions and explain the principles of Sanmarga to them. Jeeva Karunyam (Compassion for life) means Love! It is the love shown not just to humans, but to all living creatures. Offering food is just one part of it; do not mistakenly think that only feeding people constitutes the entirety of the “Jeeva Karunya” code.
- Live with Devotion! Live with Maturity! Live with Ethics!
- Perform Gnana Tavam (Meditation of Wisdom).
- Perform Gnana Dhanam (Share the gift of Wisdom).
- Behold your Eyes! That is the Divine Feet (Thiruvadi). That is the Truth (Meipporul).
- Surrender to the Guru! Open the Eye! Just Be (Summa Iru)!
Do not become a slave to intoxicants that cloud the intellect. Do not die like an animal by consuming flesh. Give up every single bad habit. Everyone must receive everything; a state where “scarcity” does not exist is needed here.
- In the Scriptures (Shastras), the Thirumanthiram of Thirumular is the greatest.
- In Hymns (Thothiram), the Thiruvasagam of Manikkavasagar is the greatest.
- As a Vessel (Paathiram), the Thiruvarutpa of Vallalar is the greatest.
To clear the mind, study and realize the books of the Siddhars. Read the Manu Murai Kanda Vasagam (by Vallalar) and live according to it. Sanmarga is the single path that unites everyone! Jeeva Karunyam is the love shown to all living souls. The Unity of the Soul (Atma Neya Orumaipaadu) must prevail in this world!
The pupil of the eye is the point of unity for all people in the world. To realize the Life-Force (Jiva), the Eye—the Pupil—is the only way!
