Thiru Arutprakasha Vallalar

Chidambaram Ramalingam, known as Vallalar, was born in Marudur on October 5, 1823. From childhood, he displayed deep devotion and a strong inclination towards God.

He began writing devotional poems at the age of nine in Chennai's Kandha Kottam. Later, he moved to Vadalur, where he composed approximately 6,000 tamil divine songs collectively known as Thiru-arutpa. Vallalar established the Sathya Dharma Salai to provide food for the hungry. He also founded the Sathya Gnana Sabai to impart the divine secret of Athma Jothi Darshan to the public. This sabai features Sir Saba, Por Saba, and seven veils. The Sir Saba and Por Saba represent our eyes (Thiruvadi), while the seven colored veils symbolize karma, maya, and ego. To attain the divine bliss of Athma Jothi Darshan, one must receive initiation from a guru. When all seven veils are opened within, one experiences the realization of the divine Jothi Darshan.

Mettukuppam, specifically Sithivalagam, is the place where Vallalar transformed his physical body into a luminous form. This room is opened during the Thai Poosam festival in Vadalur. Vallalar's primary teaching emphasizes enjoying divine bliss without delay, embodying true Jeeva Karunya (compassion for all living beings). It aims to liberate the soul from the suffering of the birth and death cycle.

At the age of 51, on Thai Poosam in 1874 AD, Vallalar transfigured his physical body into a luminous body and merged with God. The path of Sanmarga is guided by Vallalar. He stressed the importance of a pure vegetarian diet, abstaining from smoking and alcohol, and prohibited the killing of animals in the name of God. He advocated for feeding the hungry.

Gnana Sarguru SivaSelvaraj

Gnana Sarguru Siva Selvaraj Ayya, having received the divine grace of Thiru Arutprakasa Vallalar, openly disseminated the secrets of Thiruvadi to humanity.

Ayya authored 35 books in Tamil. 'Kanmani Maalai' was his first publication, in which he explained profound spiritual truths in a manner accessible to the general public. He also provided elucidations for Thirvasagam, Thiru Mandiram, and the 4000 Divya Prabandham. Several of his works have been translated into English by his disciples. Ayya led a simple life with his wife, Thangam Amma, and his son, Suyam Jothi. He dedicated his life to propagating the knowledge of Thiruvadi, initiating over 3000 spiritual seekers.

Through the grace of enlightened Siddhas, Gnanis, and Thiru Arutprakasa Vallalar, Ayya bestowed the Guru Peeta upon nine of his disciples before attaining Maha Samadhi. By the grace of Vallalar and Ayya, the Thiruvadi initiation is now conducted by these nine Gurus. Ayya emphasized the importance of 'Gnana Dhanam,' encouraging disciples to share the knowledge of Thiruvadi with other seekers. He stressed that discipline is the foundation of the spiritual path. He taught that all women should be regarded as 'Vaalai,' the divine mother of all souls, as a means to overcome Maya. He advocated a vegetarian diet and abstention from smoking and alcohol. The 'Aanmeega Semmal' award was conferred upon Ayya by the Nagercoil Senthamil Arulneri Peravai in recognition of his selfless service.
